This past week Brad finished our Hebrew series, and I must say I am so thankful for his preparation and delivery of those sermons! Among many great lessons, it was an important reminder to not give up the glorious freedom we have in Christ for the bondage of the works of the Law. And allow me to say, if there was something particularly helpful to you, do me a favor and let him know! That would be such an encouragement to him and an easy way for us to honor his work on our behalf!

This Sunday we’re going to be looking at Galatians 5:16–24. This passage echoes many of the truths we’ve heard from Hebrews, but it zooms in specifically on how we are to live in light of the fact that we are, as Martin Luther put it, “partly righteous and partly sinner.” And I’m excited to unpack this passage because Paul’s explicit purpose is to help us know how we are to live in light of this internal tension we face each day.

We will have children's ministry for kids three and under.

We pick back up in Hebrews this Sunday as we start the final chapter. Specifically, our text is Hebrews 13:1-3 and the exhortation to brotherly love in the local church.  And that's essentially what Hebrews 13 is—a varied string of practical exhortations about how to live out the implications of the new and better covenant enacted by Jesus. I'm looking forward to working through it. There's much important truth for the Christian life in this final chapter.

My hope is that we will walk away from this text with an increased love for the lost and a renewed vigor for sharing God’s message of salvation.

Read it through, pray and ask the Lord to help us, and come ready to worship our merciful God!

There’s no doubt that this little book is one of the most famous in all of the Bible, and that’s almost exclusively due to one extraordinary—but rather small—detail: Jonah gets swallowed by a great fish. But once we step back to see the book as a whole, what’s it actually about? To ask another way, what does Jonah mean to teach us? This is what we’ll seek to ask and answer.
