Dear CrossPointe,
Thank you for your prayers and encouraging words during my sabbatical. Jennifer, the kids and I had a wonderful month of rest, and I am eager to see everyone this Sunday!
I’m so thankful for the many reports of how fantastic all the sermons were during my absence. What an encouragement to be reminded how good God has been to us in giving us faithful pastors who love God’s Word and His people!
We’ll be in Psalms again for probably the last time this summer before starting our series through the Gospel of Mark. Specifically, we’ll look at Psalm 67 and how it has always been God’s plan to display His glory to the nations through His people. In other words, God doesn’t bless his people just so that they will happy and content, but rather that something much bigger would happen—that they will be a light for the nations. This was true for Israel in the Old Testament, and it is true for Christians today.
So, Psalm 67 is really all about a people being on mission for something much bigger than just their own blessing and salvation—the showing of God’s saving power to the nations. Below are a few scriptures to read as you prepare your hearts for Sunday.
- Psalm 67:1-7
- Numbers 6:22-27
- 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
Grace and peace,
Brad
