Dear CrossPointe,
This Sunday we will be looking at Hebrews 11, which is one of the most beloved and extensive explanations of faith in all of the Bible. That’s not to say it is the most exhaustive or doctrinally rich exposition of faith, but it is so loved because it is a picture of faith at work in the lives of some of the greatest heroes of Scripture.
Entering into this text is much like entering a locker room at halftime. The author’s words are meant to embolden our confidence in Christ and help us to see that the only way the Christian life can be truly lived is by faith.
It’s on this point that Hebrews 11 is so helpful. It gives us a proper understanding of faith’s work in us and faith’s work through us. There are no “leaps of faith” here, only bold, confident trust in the promises that God has made to us in Christ. And the best part is that this bold assurance isn’t reserved only for the “heroes of faith” but for all of those who have a faith founded in Jesus.
I’m looking forward to our time together this Sunday. Do yourself a favor and read through Hebrews 10–12. It is sure to bless you!
