Dear CrossPointe,

Gospel grace fuels the grit required for godliness. That’s Peter’s point in our text this Sunday, 2 Peter 1:5–7. He’s just given us the good news of all that God has done for us in verses 3–4, and now he turns his attention to our responsibility by calling us to “make every effort” to add to our faith.

As I read this text, it makes me aware of how prone we are to spiritual laziness and how we need constant reminders of what the gospel-shaped life should look like. Peter is not really saying anything hard to understand here. But, as we all experience, living it out is often not so easy. That’s why the Bible is full of practical instruction and exhortation to roll up our sleeves and plod faithfully together towards growing in Christ.

So let’s do that this Sunday. Let’s roll up our sleeves and dig into this text together. Also, we’ll come together as a church family for the Lord’s Supper for the first time since March. Praise God. Let’s prepare our hearts for the Table.

In Christ,

Brad
