Last week we took a broad look at James 1:12–18 and established the important truths that God does not tempt his people but rather is the giver of all good gifts—most notably his Son Jesus. These truths are so important for us to remember as we dive deeper into James 1:13–15 this week. In these three verses, James describes the process of temptation, sin, and spiritual death. My hope is that as we understand how temptation works, we’ll be better equipped to resist it and grow in grace.

Dear ones, this text is so critical for understanding sanctification and how the Christian life works. Let’s give ourselves to seeking to understand it well. But let’s also remember the goal is not merely to understand the Bible, but to be transformed by it so we can love God and enjoy him forever.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!
